LifeKeeper for Custom Applications

The LifeKeeper for Custom Applications provides a simple script based method to protect and monitor any application.

  • Part of the Core LifeKeeper product
  • Works with other kits (IP, File System, Data Replication, etc.) as part of a complete custom solution.
  • Optional custom application monitoring
  • Works with single or multi partition databases
  • Can be used to extend functionality of other prebuilt kits (Oracle, DB2, NFS, Samba, etc.)
  • Script Development can be in any scripting language (Korn Shell and Perl are common)

SteelEye's LifeKeeper® for Linux provides support for a wide range of applications and services. Even so, many implementers will need to protect custom applications or commercial applications where there is no pre-built kit. This is where the LifeKeeper for Custom Applications steps in. It provides an easy mechanism for plugging new or custom applications into a LifeKeeper High Availability cluster. Using simple scripting tools, practically any application can be made highly available. Scripts are typically written in either Korn Shell or Perl.

LifeKeeper for Custom Applications also works with the LifeKeeper GUI, so setup and configuration of custom applications is a snap. And once created, these custom kits can work in conjunction with other prebuilt Recovery Kits to build out full HA solutions. So you don't have to worry about shared file systems, IP addresses, or replicated data. The LifeKeeper framework and optional Recovery Kits will provide those kinds of services to your solution.

SteelEye also provides a sample custom application to support CUPS (Common Unix Printing System), so you have a example to work from.

Don't take a chance on not HA protecting your custom application; let LifeKeeper do the hard work for you!
