SteelEye Releases Update to LifeKeeper for Linux® v5

New version of LifeKeeper provides highest levels of data availability for EMC CLARiiON CX, Symmetrix DMX and IBM DS and ESS storage environments

Palo Alto, CA - November 3, 2005 - SteelEye Technology® Inc., the leading innovator in data and application availability management solutions for Linux and Windows, today announced the immediate availability of LifeKeeper™ for Linux® version 5.1.1, an update to the award-winning high availability clustering solution for Red Hat, Novell SUSE, and Asianux Linux.

LifeKeeper for Linux v5.1.1 delivers support for fibre channel storage multipath configurations using EMC CLARiiON CX, Symmetrix DMX and IBM DS and ESS storage units to eliminate all potential single points of failure in the connections between servers and storage including controllers, switches and host bus adaptors. Through integration with EMC PowerPath and IBM SDD multipath software solutions, LifeKeeper v5.1.1 provides constant monitoring and seamless switching among data paths to ensure that users always have access to business critical data.

When combined with previous support for other multipath solutions including Hitachi HDLM, HP SecurePath, IBM RDAC and QLogic failover, LifeKeeper provides the most comprehensive data availability management solution available on Linux.

"In this release, we have placed a focus on increasing data availability for users of EMC/Dell and IBM storage," said Bob Williamson, Vice President of Products, SteelEye. "Our customers using these storage platforms have asked for the increased protection provided by multipath configurations and today we deliver on these requests. We continue to see accelerating use of Linux for business critical applications; the availability afforded by multipath configurations is a requirement for these Linux adopters."
