SteelEye Raises the Bar at LinuxWorld 2004 in New York

Conference Review and Highlights

LinuxWorld Conference and Expo 2004 took place in New York, January 20-23, and once again SteelEye® was a prominent contributor to this twice-annual event. With a range of announcements, conference sessions, and technology demonstrations, SteelEye illustrated its continued leadership in enabling the business-readiness of Linux.

Industry-First Solution for Disaster Recovery

At LinuxWorld, SteelEye announced and demonstrated the world's first solution for disaster recovery, comprising wide-area failover integrated with high-speed wide-area data replication. For more information about this announcement, including commentary from leading Linux industry analyst George Weiss of Gartner, and Tony Rummans, Vice President of Business Development with IBM please visit: www.steeleye.com/news-events/pr/2004/012004.php

Unique BladeCenter Demonstration in Partnership With IBM

To demonstrate the power and reliability of the new SteelEye LifeKeeper Disaster Recovery solution, SteelEye partnered with IBM to establish an actual, live, wide-area cluster across the tradeshow floor between the SteelEye and IBM booths.

Using IBM's eServer BladeCenter technology, running SUSE Linux, SteelEye LifeKeeper continuously monitored and protected a DB2 and Apache application, and continuously replicated data throughout the entire event. During this time, hard system interrupts were performed to illustrate the effectiveness of the SteelEye solution in ensuring business readiness in a wide-area, disaster recovery context.

Demonstration of Fault-Resilient Cluster Solution for Oracle

The number of end-users actively deploying Oracle on Linux to support business computing is growing rapidly, and with it the need for high availability and fault resilience. At Linux World, SteelEye demonstrated its popular LifeKeeper for Oracle solution (which support both 8i and 9i), running on HP ProLiant servers and Red Hat Linux.
