Mountain View, Calif. - August 28, 2003 - SteelEye Technology® Inc., a leading provider of proven enterprise IT reliability solutions for business continuity, today announced the general availability of support for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 within SteelEye LifeKeeper for Exchange, the industry's first complete solution for data protection, high availability and disaster recovery of Exchange Server. In conjunction with this release SteelEye also announced the availability of new industry-leading capabilities within LifeKeeper for Exchange that further automate the clustering of Exchange Server to achieve higher levels of availability.
"Messaging and collaboration products, and Microsoft Exchange Server in particular, are complex technologies that require sophisticated solutions to ensure integrated application availability and data protection," said Bob Williamson, vice president of technology and services with SteelEye. "The availability of support for Exchange 2003 and the new features we have incorporated within our LifeKeeper for Exchange solution are proof of our commitment to our customers and to providing industry-leading solutions for high availability across the entire Windows environment."
A key new feature unique to LifeKeeper for Exchange addresses the need within multi-site environments to accelerate the speed with which Active Directory changes are replicated across domain controllers. Rather than rely upon the default replication interval within the Active Directory Forest, which is insufficient to support reliable high availability clustering, or require users to develop and test custom replication methods, LifeKeeper now provides the ability to automatically manage and replicate Active Directory changes across multiple sites. In addition to simplifying the cluster implementation process, and enhancing the overall availability and reliability of Exchange Server, this new capability provides automated detection of Active Directory changes, and enhances the scalability of Active Directory configuration.
Additional new features available in this release include improved monitoring and validation to further reduce the potential for Exchange failure due to administration errors; elimination of the need for a switchable IP address in situations where LifeKeeper for Exchange is being used to perform wide-area failover to support disaster recovery; and enhanced granularity of failover criteria to support a broader range of network failure conditions.
SteelEye LifeKeeper for Exchange is a modular, scalable solution for data protection, high availability clustering, and disaster recovery of Exchange Server. LifeKeeper enables IT managers to implement a choice of scalable capabilities, based upon their high availability requirements, systems environment considerations, and budgetary objectives.
SteelEye LifeKeeper for Exchange is easy to install, non-intrusive during operation, and does not require application modification, thus eliminating the potential for application destabilization caused by changes in configuration settings. SteelEye LifeKeeper for Exchange supports all versions of Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 from Professional to Advanced and Data Center Server editions, and does not require the implementation of Microsoft Exchange Server Enterprise Edition.
SteelEye is a leading provider of enterprise IT reliability solutions for business continuity and disaster recovery. The SteelEye LifeKeeper family of application-centric data protection, high availability clustering and disaster recovery solutions are easy to deploy and operate, and enable enterprises of all sizes to ensure continuous availability of business-critical applications, servers and data.
